Mr. Md Safwan Kabir Bhuiya is a Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, IUBAT - International University of Business, Agriculture, and Technology, located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He earned his B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in 2020. Currently, he is pursuing his M.Sc. in Water Resource Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), with his primary research focus on Hydrology and Coastal Engineering.
In addition to his academic journey, he gained valuable industry experience as a Quality Control Officer at Block House Bangladesh and later joined the Engineering Division of Dhaka Bank Limited, where he worked on civil structure projects and related infrastructure works, further strengthening his practical understanding of the field.
His research focuses on key themes in Water Resources Engineering, with particular emphasis on drought assessment, coastal engineering, and river morphology. He is especially interested in understanding how climate change and human interventions affect river systems, flood dynamics, and water availability in vulnerable regions. Proficient in a range of hydrological and hydraulic modelling tools—such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWAT as well as GIS and remote sensing platforms like ArcGIS and QGIS, he integrates data-driven analysis with practical engineering judgment. As he continues his academic and professional journey, he remains committed to advancing sustainable water management solutions and sharing this knowledge with his students, with the broader goal of improving resilience in riverine and coastal communities.
